Between 1880 and 1910, the joint Anglo-American Arts and Crafts aesthetics movement was at its height. It was inspired, in particular, by the writings of John Ruskin and the idealized romantic notion of the craftsman taking the utmost pride in his own handiwork. The Arts and Crafts movement was a reaction to mechanization and the industrial revolution, but not opposed to it. It believed in the spontaneous personality of the designer as opposed to the historical sense of a design but, with Ruskin at the forefront, still contained the following design elements: reformist neo-gothic influences, rustic and "cottagey" surfaces, repeating designs, vertical and elongated forms

This ensures an abrasion-resistant, hard-wearing, and durable finish that protects your door from the sun, snow, wind and rain as well as any fungus or mildew problems.
The door also comes complete with a number of accessories such as a hand forged, wrought iron speakeasy grill that only opens inwardly, and clavos nails to complete the period look.
